About Us
History:
The Limehouse Memorial Hall is located in the heart of the village of Limehouse, in the Town of Halton Hills (formerly Esquesing Township) between Acton and Georgetown at the intersection of 5th Line and Regional Road 43 (22nd Sideroad).

The land on which the Limehouse Memorial Hall was built was donated in 1873 by Mr. Gowdy Sr., a local businessman, to the Methodists in the area. The stone church which they built remained open until the 1930’s. Through the strong efforts of the local Women's Institute, the building was purchased and was reopened in 1945 just after World War II and renamed the Limehouse Memorial Hall in memory and in honour of those who served in both World Wars.

The community accepted responsibility for the hall from the Limehouse Women’s Institute in 1996. The Limehouse Community Hall Board was then formed to oversee the operation and maintenance of the Memorial Hall.
The historic building is used regularly for rentals, meetings, family gatherings, coffee house evenings and annual hall community events such as the Strawberry Social in June, the Corn Roast and BBQ in the fall, and the Light Up the Garden and Sweets with Santa in December.
